This thrilling photo captures the intensity of the HRDC 'Gerry Marshall' Trophy Series race at the prestigious Silverstone Grand Prix Motor Circuit in Towcester, Northamptonshire, England, October 2022. With over 30 historic touring cars on the grid, the forty-five minute two-driver race featured four classes: one for drum braked cars, and three based on engine capacity. In the foreground, Riorden Welby skillfully maneuvers his Rover SD1 through the turns, closely followed by Jack Moody in his similarly powerful touring car. The energy and excitement of the event are palpable, as the roar of the engines fills the air and the cars race side by side. The Willhire class, featuring invited production touring cars, added an extra layer of competition to the already intense race. The variety of cars, ranging from pre-1980s tin tops to GT cars, showcased the rich history of motor racing. The pit stops, with teams working tirelessly to ensure their drivers had the best possible chance to win, added to the spectacle of the event.
