The Historic Centre of Avignon is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the south of France. It consists of three distinct sites: the Papal Palace, the Episcopal Ensemble and the Avignon Bridge. The Papal Palace was built in the 14th century and served as a residence for several popes during the 14th century. The Episcopal Ensemble is composed of several churches, chapels and other religious buildings that date back to medieval times. Finally, the Avignon Bridge was constructed in 1234 and spans over 800 meters across two islands on the Rhone River.
