One of the noble hobbies of the 18th century was harnessing tame deer to the sleigh instead of horses. The nobility usually kept an animal park on their country estates with a well-kept, often rare stock of game. Staying in one of the small hunting lodges built at the same time as the magnificent castles was a change from courtly life.
