Originally engraved by George Edwards in his works A Natural History of Uncommon Birds and Gleanings of Natural History Michael Seligmann re-engraved the plates and combined it with Catesbys work A Natural History of Carolina, Florida and the Bahama Islands translating the names into German and adding some figures and plants not present in the originals.

However, Seligmann took it upon himself to enhance the plates by combining them with the works of Mark Catesby's "A Natural History of Carolina, Florida and the Bahama Islands". In doing so, he translated the names into German and added additional figures and plants that were absent in the originals.
