EDITORS COMMENTS
This colored engraving, titled "The Puffin and the Razor-bill" showcases the exquisite artistry of George Edwards and Michael Seligmann. Originally engraved by Edwards in his renowned works on uncommon birds, this particular print has been re-engraved by Seligmann, a German artist and art dealer from Nuremberg. Combining Edwards' work with Mark Catesby's "A Natural History of Carolina, Florida and the Bahama Islands". Seligmann adds his own touch to these magnificent creatures. Translating names into German and introducing additional figures and plants not present in the originals, he creates a unique fusion that breathes new life into these avian wonders. In this enchanting illustration, we are transported to a world where nature's beauty is meticulously captured. The Puffin stands proudly alongside its companion, the Razor-bill, both displaying their distinctive features with grace. Their vibrant plumage contrasts against a backdrop of lush foliage and delicate flowers. As we gaze upon this artwork from ePurix Verlag Volker Christen collection, we cannot help but be captivated by the intricate details that bring these birds to life. Every feather seems to flutter gently in the breeze while their eyes sparkle with an undeniable sense of curiosity. "The Puffin and the Razor-bill" serves as a testament to humanity's enduring fascination with nature's creations. It reminds us of our connection to the animal kingdom and invites us to appreciate its diversity through artistic expression
