The image depicts the properties of water, one of the elements explored in this scientific treatise. With its stylized and ornamental decoration, it exemplifies the exquisite craftsmanship of illuminated manuscripts during that era. Bartholomeus Anglicus was a renowned scholar and member of the Franciscan order who authored this compendium as an early precursor to encyclopedias.
