EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a pair of exquisite Louis XV ewers, crafted from porcelain during the years 1662-1722. Adorned with ornate mounts dating back to 1745-49, these stunning pieces were created by the Chinese School during the Qing Dynasty's Kangxi Period. Standing at an impressive size of 57x33x33 cm, they are now part of a private collection. The baluster vases feature intricate underglaze blue and iron red designs depicting graceful deer, elegant cranes, flourishing trees, and delicate foliage against a pale celadon background. The necks are adorned with scrolled acanthus patterns that culminate in lips cast with coral and shell motifs. On one side of each vase is a double-scrolled foliate handle surmounted by a majestic winged dragon. Resting on scrolling foliate bases, these ewers exude opulence and sophistication. Each base mount proudly bears the C-couronné stamp as a mark of authenticity. Although one neck has been restored and one vase lacks its circlet within the rim mount, their beauty remains undiminished. This photograph captures every intricate detail of these remarkable works of art - from their breathtaking decoration to their ornamental ormolu mounts. It serves as a testament to the skillful craftsmanship that went into creating such masterpieces during this period in history.
