EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a stunning panel depicting hunting scenes, located in Tarouca, Portugal. Created by the Portuguese School, these ceramic tiles are found within the Mosteiro de Santa Maria de Salzedas, a grand Cistercian monastery. The monastery was granted vast areas of land with the responsibility of cultivating and populating them. Construction on this magnificent complex began in 1155 after receiving the lands from Egas Moniz and his wife Teresa Afonso. It was consecrated in 1255 when all monastic buildings were completed.
