November 4th, 2017 marks the day when these old abandoned buildings at the Chatterley Whitfield pit were captured through Tunnicliffe's lens. Once a bustling coal mine and an integral part of The North Staffordshire Coalfield, Chatterley Whitfield Colliery now stands as a haunting reminder of its former glory. This disused colliery, situated on the outskirts of Chell, holds historical significance as it was not only the largest mine working in its region but also made history by becoming the first colliery in The UK to produce one million tons of saleable coal within a year.
