by Parker, Henry Perlee (1795-1873); 20.1x30.9 cm; Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK; (add.info.: In 1838, the Forfarshire steam ship was wrecked on the Farne Islands. The survivors were rescued by Grace Darling and her father William, Keeper of Longstone Lighthouse. Grace became a celebrity, and soon after the incident Parker and Carmichael travelled to the Darlings home to record the heroic event. They stayed at the lighthouse for a week, sketching the surroundings and making portrait studies. This view shows the Farne Islands, site of the wreck, as seen from the door of the lighthouse;
