XJF3058145 Richs Glory or his Triumphant Entry into Covent-Garden, 1732 (etching) by English School, (18th century); Private Collection; (add.info.: Satire on John Rich and his theatre shows him moving scenery and performers from Lincolns Inn Fields to the New House in Covent Garden. Dressed as Harlequin, he rides in an open carriage drawn by satyrs behind the dramatist John Gay who is carried on a porters back. Alexander Pope defecates on sheets from the Beggars Opera (the great triumph of Rich and Gay).
