11th July 1953: Inhabitants of the Isle of Soay in the Outer Hebrides move their furniture to a waiting boat, as they prepare to evacuate the island, bound for their new home on the Isle of Mull. All 27 islanders are being moved by the government after their crops failed and the income from fishing had dwindled. The island has been bought by Tex and Jeanne Geddes who hope to revitalise the land.
