MacMillan of Boston, Massachusetts, left, indicates to Robert E. Peary Jr. the point at Thule, Greenland, where Peary's famous father, Admiral Robert E. Peary, stopped his ship to begin his historic ice cap journey to the top of the earth in 1909 to become the first man to discover the North Pole. Commander MacMillan, who was with Admiral Peary on the trip, was on his 30th journey to Thule when he met again the younger Peary after many years. Peary Jr. has an arctic history of his own, having been for two years an employee for the contractor building, under the supervision of the US Army Corps of Engineers, the US Air Force Base at Thule, Greenland.
