Framed Print of British naval visit, 1951

British naval visit, 1951. Children's party and exiting activites aboard the British aircraft carrier HMS Indomitable during its visit to Stadsgardshamnen, Stockholm. The British seamen have arranged exiting activities like going on a ride on a miniature train on the ships deck. HMS Indomitable was a Royal Navy aircraft carrier launched in 1940 and active during World War II and the post-war period. In June 1951, the ship visited Stockholm as part of a goodwill tour by the British Home Fleet. Admiral Sir Philip Vian, Commander-in-Chief of the Home Fleet, flew his flag aboard Indomitable during the visit. The ship docked at Stadsgardshamnen, where it became a centre of attention. Swedish dignitaries, including King Gustaf VI Adolf, inspected the crew and attended ceremonial events. As part of the diplomatic outreach, a children's party was held aboard the vessel-an appreciated gesture that received warm coverage in the Swedish press. At the time, Indomitable was one of the largest warships to navigate Stockholm's inner harbour, measuring approximately 230 metres in length
