Framed Print of In the spring of 1952, the Swedish artist Mark Sylwan presented a mechanical construction box, called FAC, at the Technical Museum in Stockholm

In the spring of 1952, the Swedish artist Mark Sylwan presented a mechanical construction box, called FAC, at the Technical Museum in Stockholm. The Swedish newspaper Teknikens Vaerld spoke of a miniature technological marvel, while the daily newspaper Svenska Dagbladet drew parallels with Matt-Johansson, a world-renowned inventor. Previously, only toy building boxes of the Meccano type had existed (whose role in industrial model building should not be underestimated). The new machine building box was something else entirely. The basic element consisted of 4 mm rods, shaped beams and 12 different types of ingenious joining plates. In addition, there were a number of well-made disc and gear wheels. In total, the construction system consisted of over 200 precision-made parts. Sweden 1953. Conard ref 2269. Explore the World Through imageBROKER Prints. © imageBROKER/Sjoberg
