The reformatory school for boys at Thorndon, near Eye in Suffolk, originally established in 1856. It was usually known as the Kerrison Reformatory, after one of its initiators, Sir Edward C Kerrison. In 1933 it became the Kerrison Approved School. Reformatories could house convicted juvenile offenders aged under 16 for a period of 2 to 5 years.
