As the winds reached their peak in the north, the 375ft cooling towers, built from 24, 000 tons of concrete and costing 290, 000 each, crumpled one by one into the ruins pictured here. The towers had only recently been completed at the 50 acre site near Leeds, Yorkshire, where the 68, 000, 000 Ferrybridge C station is under construction. 1st November 1965. © Mirrorpix
