Framed Print of Social distancing 1970s style. 16th July 1972 On with your black cloaks

Social distancing 1970s style. 16th July 1972
On with your black cloaks and pointed hats, ladies, broomstick shopping has arrived!
At least thats Diana Kents very down to earth solution to the age old problem of how to lug the goods home when you are loaded down with bags.
Every Saturday morning Diana goes down Ilford High Road with a broom handle and a friend, Pauline Blyth, 27.
Each bag of shopping is loaded on to the pole which they hold at either hand. Depending on the congestion they walk along side by side or in single file.
Said Diana, 21 We manage seven full bags of shopping without any bother. I m sure old folk and those who can t carry heavy items will find this method a useful one'. Our Picture Show : Diana Kent (left) with daughter Samantha, two and Pauline Blyth. © Mirrorpix
