Rayon research. Laboratory researcher testing viscosity in the viscose process used in the manufacture of rayon. Liquid viscose, under carefully controlled temperature, is tested at regular intervals as it becomes rayon yarn. Here, at a DuPont facility, the rate at which the liquid drips from the tube is a measure of its viscosity. The DuPont company licensed the rayon manufacturing process and produced this textile from 1920 to 1960. Photographed in around the 1950s.
