A close-up of one nephron is at upper right. It consists of a glomerulus of capillaries (red, looped) contained within a Bowmans capsule (rounded) with a tubule below. Filtration by the glomerulus and selective reabsorption and secretion in the tubule forms urine. Urine is received by the renal pelvis (yellow) which will join the ureter (not shown). At bottom left corner are the renal vein (blue) and the renal artery (red).
