The Obelisk. Erasmus Wilson (1809-1884). English surgeon and antiquary. In medicine he specialised in skin diseases. His other interest was Egyptology of which he was a generous patron. In 1878 he paid for the transport of Cleopatras Needle from Egypt to London at a cost of a£ 10, 000.
