In the 1590s, a fascinating era unfolded with a myriad of intriguing events and places. The North Berwick Witches, notorious for their dark arts, were said to have cast spells that sent chills down the spines of many. Dr Fian's chilling presence in a churchyard added an eerie touch to this bewitching tale. Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, Sir Francis Drake found his final resting place beneath the waves near Portobelo, Panama. His burial at sea marked the end of an illustrious career as one of history's most renowned explorers. Back in England, Mols Coffee House and Keetch Gallery became bustling hubs where artists and intellectuals gathered to exchange ideas and showcase their works. These vibrant establishments in Exeter, Devon fostered creativity and cultural enrichment during this period. The grandeur of Hardwick Hall stood tall amidst Derbyshire's picturesque landscape. Completed in 1597, it showcased architectural brilliance that still captivates visitors today. Cornelis de Jode's Bering Strait Map transported viewers into uncharted territories. This intricate depiction featured fantastical elements like sea monsters alongside European ships sailing towards California's fabled province of Quivira through El Streto de Anian (the Bering Strait). Kirby Hall emerged as a magnificent testament to Elizabethan architecture. Its elegant design reflected the opulence favored by nobility during this time. The Great Bed of Ware held stories within its ancient wooden frame; once housed at Saracen's Head Inn before finding its way to Rye House and eventually residing at London's V&A Museum. Dating back centuries earlier but cherished even in 1954 when captured on film - it remains an iconic piece representing history’s slumberous tales. Across continents in Russia’s Moscow region stood the Church of Transfiguration – built-in 1598 – radiating spiritual tranquility amidst breathtaking surroundings.
