Fritz Muhlemann and Jo Siffert, representing BSA, took on the challenging course with their powerful machines. Terry Folwell and P M Knocker from Matchless were also ready to give it their all. But it was Bob Robinson and Lewis Young riding for Norton who made an impressive start, closely followed by Owen Greenwood and Terry Fairbrother on Triumph. The race was intense as these skilled riders battled for the lead. Florian Camathias and Hilmar Cecco represented BMW in this prestigious event, displaying their expertise on the track. Loni Neussner and Dieter Hess joined them to showcase BMW's capabilities even further. Alan Young partnered with R Q Cairncross while Helmut Fath teamed up with Fritz Rudolph, both duos racing under BMW's banner. Eric Oliver and Pat Wise proudly rode for Norton, demonstrating their exceptional teamwork throughout the competition. Meanwhile, Marcel Beauvais and Andre Coudert represented Norton as well, determined to make their mark on this historic race. Bill Beevers partnered with John Chisnall for Norton in a bid to secure victory at this highly anticipated event. And not forgetting Alan Young teaming up once again with R Q Cairncross aboard another powerful Norton machine.
