The alto saxophone, a beloved instrument in the world of jazz and beyond, has been played by some of the most iconic musicians throughout history. Maceo Parker, known for his soulful playing with James Brown and Parliament-Funkadelic, showcased his incredible talent on the alto sax in 2000. Captured by Brian Foskett's lens, this moment immortalizes Parker's passion for music. Another master of the alto sax is Dave Sanborn, who mesmerized audiences with his smooth sound. In 2005, Brian Foskett captured Sanborn in action, effortlessly weaving melodic lines that touched hearts and souls. Traveling back to 1967 in Bexley, London, we find Roland Kirk captivating listeners as Black Prince. Foskett's photograph transports us to a time when Kirk pushed boundaries with his unique approach to playing multiple instruments simultaneously. Jimmie Lunceford takes us even further back in time to 1936. Although the creator remains unknown, this photograph captures Lunceford's mastery of the alto saxophone during an era when big band jazz reigned supreme. Fast-forwarding to more recent years brings us to Roy Willox and Duncan Lamont performing with Stan Reynolds Big Band in New Milton in 2008. The energy emanating from their alto saxes fills the air as they contribute their individual voices to create harmonious melodies. Roy Willox returns solo on stage at Stan Reynolds Big Band once again later that year. Brian Foskett skillfully captures Willox pouring his heart into each note he plays on his trusty alto saxophone. Bob Wilber and Joanne Pug Horton join forces at Blackpool Jazz Party in 2007 under Foskett's watchful eye. Their duet showcases not only their technical prowess but also their deep connection through music. Charlie Mariano graces Brecon Jazz Festival stage in Powys, Wales, in August 2002.
