B lymphocytes, also known as B cells, are a crucial component of our immune system. These specialized blood cells play a vital role in defending our body against harmful pathogens and foreign substances. When an infection or allergen enters our system they can activated and undergo differentiation. Some of these cells transform into plasma cells, which produce antibodies that specifically target the invading pathogen. This process is illustrated in TEM images C018 / 0802 and shows the intricate structure of these plasma cells. In cases of perfume allergies or other hypersensitivity reactions, B lymphocytes respond by generating an immune response to combat the perceived threat. The artwork depicting this perfume allergy response showcases how these blood cells mobilize to protect us from potential harm. Lymph node hyperplasia can occur when there is an excessive proliferation of B lymphocytes within the lymph nodes. A light micrograph (C015 / 6224) captures this phenomenon, highlighting the importance of regulating B cell activity for proper immune function. White blood cells encompass various types involved in immunity, including B lymphocytes. SEM images demonstrate their appearance under high magnification and reveal their distinct morphology within our bloodstream. TEM images further showcase plasma cell structures with remarkable detail. These antibody-producing machines have unique features that enable them to efficiently neutralize pathogens and prevent further infections from occurring.
