The Cedar Waxwing (Bombycilla cedrorum) is a stunning bird found in various locations across North America. In Washington State, a Cedar Waxwing perches gracefully on a branch at Yarrow Bay, showcasing its elegant plumage. Moving down to California, these birds can be spotted amidst the scenic landscapes of this diverse state. Venturing further north to Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada, one can witness the majestic sight of a Cedar Waxwing against the backdrop of breathtaking mountain scenery. These birds are known for their distinctive appearance and behavior. In Connecticut during April, a Cedar Waxwing proudly holds a berry in its mouth as it prepares for springtime feasting. Their diet mainly consists of fruits like Crabapple and Serviceberry. Traveling to New York, we observe another fascinating moment as a Cedar Waxwing skillfully catches Crabapple fruit in its beak. These birds have perfected their feeding techniques over time. In Ithaca, four Cedar Waxwings gather together to enjoy the abundance of Crabapple fruit available to them. It's an enchanting scene that showcases their social nature and cooperative feeding habits. Moving towards Marion County in Illinois, we find these beautiful creatures indulging themselves with delicious Serviceberries from bushes or perched atop Blue Atlas Cedars trees. They truly know how to make use of nature's offerings.
