A tale of transformation: From the ashes of the burnt-out C&A store in Birmingham's Corporation Street, rose a new incarnation. Meanwhile, in Queens Street, the construction of a modern C&A department store was underway. In Reading's Friar Street, shoppers strolled past the old-fashioned stores in 1986. Liverpool's Church Street bustled with activity in the 1960s and 1980s, adorned with Christmas lights and bustling with shoppers. The Dundas Arcade in Glasgow's Shopping Centre opened its doors in 1979. Manchester City centre came alive with the crowds during the January sales in 1987. French football fans celebrated Euro 1996 in Newcastle's streets. And in 1995, the Friars Walk Shopping Centre in Coventry welcomed back the C&A store after its reopening.
