Chas Mortimer: A Motorcycle Racing Legend From the thrilling races of the 1960s to the iconic victories in the 1980s, Chas Mortimer left an indelible mark on motorcycle racing. With his unmatched skills and unwavering determination, he became one of the most celebrated riders of his time. In 1975, Chas Mortimer emerged victorious at the Senior TT, showcasing his exceptional talent and proving himself as a force to be reckoned with. This triumph was just one among many others that would follow throughout his illustrious career. In 1970, riding for Broad Yamaha, Mortimer claimed victory at the Junior TT race. The crowd erupted in applause as he crossed the finish line, solidifying his status as a rising star in the world of motorcycle racing. The following year saw him dominate once again at the Ultra Lightweight TT aboard a Yamaha bike. His precision and speed were unmatched as he maneuvered through challenging terrains with finesse. Mortimer's prowess extended beyond Isle of Man races; in 1968, alongside A. F Pinnock on a Bultaco machine, he conquered Southern 100 with sheer skill and determination. Their partnership proved unstoppable against fierce competition. Throughout his career, Chas Mortimer continued to showcase excellence across various categories. In 1976 Production TT race astride a Yamaha bike and again in 1984 Formula Two TT event where he displayed unparalleled expertise on two wheels. Notably versatile across different motorcycles brands such as Aermacchi and Honda, Mortimer achieved remarkable success regardless of what machine he rode. His victory at Lightweight Manx Grand Prix aboard an Aermacchi exemplified this adaptability while leaving spectators awestruck by his abilities. The Formula 750 TT race held in Danfay Yamaha's name witnessed another glorious moment for Chas Mortimer when he triumphed in style during its edition in 1974.
