The Chukchi Sea is a breathtakingly beautiful region, filled with diverse wildlife and stunning landscapes. In this vast expanse of icy waters, one can witness the wonders of nature unfold. A Polar bear (Ursus maritimus) female with her young, just one and a half years old, rests peacefully on the ice. The bond between mother and cub is evident as they navigate their way through this frozen world. Another adult female polar bear with her young explores Wrangel Island, showcasing the resilience of these magnificent creatures. As we venture further along the coast, Cape Dezhnev welcomes us with its pristine beach. This easternmost corner of Eurasia in the Russian Far East offers a glimpse into untouched beauty. Here we find a ground squirrel scurrying about, adding life to this remote landscape. Moving along to Cape Onman, we discover an intriguing pattern formed by driftwood on its shores. Nature's artistry knows no bounds in this region. Amongst it all stands an Arctic Chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum arcticum), defying harsh conditions to bloom beautifully. Wrangel Island beckons us next with its captivating beaches that stretch endlessly towards the horizon, and is here that another Polar bear mother protects her juvenile offspring from any potential dangers lurking nearby. Witnessing pack ice at sunset on Wrangel Island is truly awe-inspiring; it paints a picture of tranquility amidst nature's raw power. The hues of orange and pink reflect off the glistening icebergs as day turns into night – a sight that will forever be etched in our memories. Scientific research also thrives in these frigid waters: Benny Hopson from Barrow (Alaska) Arctic Science Consortium drills core samples from sea ice in the Chukchi Sea while Clark University student Christie Wood collects water samples from boreholes alongside Karen Frey and Luke Trusel who work diligently amid the sea ice, place where nature's wonders
