Dave Welling: Capturing the Beauty of Nature Across Continents From the vast plains of Africa to the stunning landscapes of Utah and Texas, Dave Welling's lens has captured it all. In Zaire's Virungas National Park, he immortalized the majestic Virungas Mountains as they stood tall against a vibrant African sunset. Closer to home in Santa Clara Ranch, Texas, Dave focused his attention on the intricate details of nature. A male northern cardinal perched atop a tree limb showcased its vibrant red plumage while a long-billed thrasher sang its melodious tune from within another tree. Venturing into Utah's breathtaking scenery, Dave witnessed nature's wonders unfold before him. As storm clouds cleared over sandstone formations at sunset, he seized that fleeting moment forever. The sunrise on the highway leading into Wild Horse Butte painted an ethereal picture that only Mother Nature could create. Springtime brought life to beeweed flowers in Utah, attracting honey bees that hovered gracefully above them. San Rafael Swell revealed uplift escarpment rock formations that seemed like works of art sculpted by time itself. Fantasy Canyon displayed eroded sandstone formations resembling otherworldly creatures straight out of a dream. Back in Texas once again, Dave turned his lens towards smaller inhabitants of Santa Clara Ranch and Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge. An ashy clubtail dragonfly delicately perched on a leaf caught his eye while a leopard frog found solace amidst duckweed-filled ponds. And who could forget the charming Gulf coast toad resting peacefully upon a log? Even the slow-paced stroll of a Texas tortoise through Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge became an enchanting sight under Dave's watchful gaze.
