David Hirst: A Sidecar Racing Legend From the thrilling races at the Sidecar TT to the heart-pounding moments at the Southern 100, it has left an indelible mark on the world of sidecar racing. In 2007, alongside his partner Paul Lowther and their Honda machine, Hirst showcased his exceptional skills as they conquered the challenging course at the Sidecar TT. The duo's determination and teamwork propelled them to new heights in this exhilarating event. The following year, with a Shelbourne Honda under their command, Hirst and Lowther once again proved their mettle as they fearlessly tackled every twist and turn during the 2008 Sidecar TT. Their unwavering focus and precision earned them well-deserved recognition among their peers. But it wasn't just at the iconic Isle of Man races where Hirst shone brightly. In 2015, he joined forces with Leon Fitzpatrick aboard a BHR Honda for practice sessions leading up to another exciting Sidecar TT. Together, they fine-tuned their skills in preparation for one of motorsport's most demanding challenges. Teaming up with Dickie Gale that same year further exemplified Hirst's versatility as a racer. Riding a BHR Honda side by side with Gale showcased not only their synchronicity but also highlighted Hirst's ability to adapt seamlessly to different partners and machines. Hirst continued his impressive performances beyond the Isle of Man events. At Southern 100 in 2012, partnering with Ben Binns on an LPC Shelbourne Honda machine, he demonstrated his prowess on yet another challenging circuit. This race was marked by intense competition where every second counted – something that didn't deter him from pushing boundaries. His partnership with Keir Pedley in both 2009 and later that same year proved fruitful during two separate editions of Southern 100.
