In 1983, Tapken joined forces with Fred Walker on a Derbyshire Kawasaki, showcasing their exceptional teamwork during the Sidecar TT. Tapken's passion for sidecar racing continued to burn bright throughout the years. In 2007, he took part in a Parade Lap alongside Villum Van Diss on a Jacobs Yamaha. Notable partnerships also include Peter Williams on a Yamaha in 1980 and Rick Roberts on a Jacobs Yamaha in 2004.
