The Dreyfus Case: A Tale of Betrayal, Courage, and Justice In the late 19th century, France was rocked by a scandal that would come to be known as the Dreyfus Case. At its heart was Alfred Dreyfus, a Jewish officer in the French army who found himself at the center of a web of lies and prejudice. One such image depicted Zola swimming towards a German soldier while holding up his infamous "I Accuse" hand gesture - an iconic representation published in "Psst. " newspaper on April 23rd, 1898. Lieutenant-Colonel Georges Picquart also played a crucial role in unraveling this conspiracy. However, his pursuit for truth led to his arrest as depicted in "Le Petite Journal" on January 30th, 1898 – highlighting how those seeking justice faced immense obstacles during these troubled times. The case itself became deeply entangled with issues surrounding religion and nationalism.
