Ernest Meissonier, a renowned French artist of the 19th century, is celebrated for his exceptional talent and diverse range of works. One of his notable creations is "General Aide-de-camp, " an oil painting on wood measuring 7 3/4 x 10 7/8 inches. This masterpiece showcases Meissonier's meticulous attention to detail and skillful brushwork. Born in Friedland around 1807, Meissonier dedicated himself to art throughout his life. Another remarkable piece by him is "Cuirassier with Drawn Sword, " which was modeled circa 1875 and later cast after 1891.
