Fra Bartolommeo di Pagholo, born in 1472 in Florence, Italy, was a renowned Italian Renaissance painter and Dominican friar. His real name was Baccio della Porta but he is more commonly known as Fra Bartolommeo. Known for his religious paintings and portraits, Fra Bartolommeo's work often depicted scenes from the Bible with a sense of serenity and harmony. He was greatly influenced by the works of Leonardo da Vinci and Raphael, incorporating their techniques into his own unique style. Despite being a talented artist, Fra Bartolommeo struggled with self-doubt and eventually gave up painting for several years to focus on his religious duties as a friar. However, he later returned to art with renewed passion and created some of his most famous works during this period.
