Frank Dadd, a professional gentleman known for his remarkable artistic skills, left an indelible mark on the art world with his captivating paintings. In 1883, he portrayed the bond between sisters in a heartwarming piece that resonated with viewers. His talent and attention to detail were evident in "Winter Night" from 1890, where he skillfully captured the serene beauty of a snowy landscape. One of Dadd's notable works was "The Letter, " created in 1910 using oil on panel. This painting showcased his ability to convey emotions through brushstrokes and colors. Another masterpiece by Dadd was "A Night Attack: Defending a Train Derailed by the Boers" from 1902, which depicted bravery and heroism during wartime. Dadd's contribution extended beyond war scenes; he also immortalized historical events such as the return of City Imperial Volunteers at St. Paul's Cathedral in 1901 and Colonel Plumer's gallant attempt to relieve Mafeking from the north in 1900. In British Prisoners Waiting for Release: The Camp at Nooitgedacht (1901), Dadd depicted the anguish and hopelessness experienced by prisoners during times of conflict. He further showcased his versatility with "The Battle of Belmont" (1899), capturing an intense bayonet attack by Scottish and Grenadier Guards. During World War I, an unknown creator paid homage to Frank Dadd's legacy through Heroes of Delville Wood (c1920). This poignant artwork honored those who fought bravely amidst unimaginable horrors. Dadd even had the privilege of portraying royalty; one such instance was seen in The Princess of Wales Welcoming her Sailor Sons on their Return. . May 3, 1880 (1901). Through this painting, he captured both regality and maternal love simultaneously. However, not all of Frank Dadd's work focused solely on grandeur and heroism.
