"Garrulus glandarius: The Chatty and Resourceful Jay" The Garrulus glandarius, commonly known as the Eurasian Jay, is a fascinating bird species found across Europe and parts of North America. With its striking blue feathers and white underparts, this bird never fails to catch the eye. In Norway, two Jays engage in an intense mid-air battle while another keenly observes from a nearby perch. Their acrobatic maneuvers showcase their agility and competitive nature. Meanwhile, in Germany's Bavaria region, a Garrulus glandarius savors an acorn with great delight. This behavior highlights their resourcefulness as they make use of available food sources. Perched on a tree stump in Fischen, Allgau, Bavaria, Germany, another Jay proudly displays its vibrant plumage against the backdrop of lush greenery. In Hertfordshire, England during autumn season, one can spot these birds perched gracefully on oak trees – a picturesque sight indeed. Moving further east to Allgaeu in Bavaria once again; here we find a curious Eurasian Jay pecking at corn cob kernels with precision. Its ability to adapt to various food sources showcases its versatility as an opportunistic feeder. Traveling northwards to Sweden brings us closer to Scandinavia's beauty where Jays are seen thriving amidst stunning landscapes. In North Hesse region of Germany too - specifically Hesse - these birds find solace perching on branches that sway gently with the wind. Across continents now; British Columbia welcomes Steller's jay (Cyanocitta stelleri) onto its branches during June. Though not identical to our previous sightings but equally captivating nonetheless. Taking a step back into history reveals lithographs published in 1897 showcasing European bird eggs including those belonging to our beloved Eurasian jays – truly remarkable artifacts. Back in London's urban setting lies yet another enchanting scene.
