Discover the enchanting island of Gotland, Sweden's hidden gem in the Baltic Sea. In May 2019, I embarked on a journey to this picturesque destination and was captivated by its rich history and breathtaking landscapes. Visby, with its 12th-century city wall, stood as a testament to Gotland's medieval past. As I strolled along the cobblestone streets within these ancient walls, I felt transported back in time. The city wall is not only impressive but also considered one of the most complete medieval city walls in Europe. My exploration continued towards Kruttornet Tower in Visby. Standing tall against the sky, this tower offered panoramic views of the surrounding area. From here, I could see glimpses of Hallshuk's charming fishing shacks nestled along the coastline. One of my most memorable experiences was visiting Visby Sankta Maria domkyrka cathedral. This magnificent structure dates back to the 12th century and showcases stunning Gothic architecture. Stepping inside, I was awestruck by its grandeur and intricate details that whispered tales from centuries past. As I ventured further into Gotland's natural wonders, Lickershamn beckoned me with its limestone raukar rocks known as Jungfrun or Maiden Rock. These unique formations stood like sentinels guarding the coastlines—a true marvel of nature that left me spellbound.
