The laughing thrush, also known as the White-throated Laughingthrush or Striated Laughingthrush (Garrulax striatus), is a delightful bird species found in various regions across Asia. One such sighting took place in Arunachal Pradesh, India, where an adult Bhutan Laughingthrush (Garrulax imbricatus) perched on a twig in February. Its white throat and striking appearance added to its charm. In Central Taiwan's Anmashan during May, the White-whiskered Laughingthrush (Trochalopteron morrisonianum) made its presence felt. Standing confidently on rocks or perching gracefully on twigs, this adult bird showcased its unique features that set it apart from other species. Another fascinating encounter occurred near Kaeng Krachan when a pair of Greater Necklaced Laughingthrushes (Garrulax pectoralis subfusus) engaged in courtship feeding. Their affectionate behavior highlighted their strong bond and emphasized the importance of companionship within their community. Meanwhile, near Kaeng Krachan in Thailand during May, an adult Lesser Necklaced Laughingthrush (Garrulax monileger) stood proudly on a log. Its elegant stance portrayed both strength and gracefulness simultaneously. Moving towards Doi Lang and Doi Pha Hom Pok National Park, we encountered the Spectacled Barwing (Actinodura ramsayi ramsayi). This adult bird was captured perched delicately on a twig - its distinctive markings around the eyes adding to its allure. Lastly, we observed the Silver-eared Laughingthrush (Trochalopteron melanostigma), another captivating species found at Doi Lang and Doi Pha Hom Pok National Park. Whether standing tall on logs or perching atop stumps with confidence, these adults showcased their unique silver ear patches, making them truly stand out.
