In the mid-sixteenth century, art and knowledge flourished in various forms. The intricate artwork of "The Young Rustem Slaying the White Elephant" showcases the talent and attention to detail prevalent during this time. Painted with gouache and gold paint on paper around 1545, it captures a moment of heroic triumph. Meanwhile, Flemish anatomist and physician Andreas Vesalius imparts his wisdom at the school of medicine in Brussels through a color woodcut from 1543.
