The Northern Parula, also known as Parula americana, is a captivating bird species that can be found in the beautiful landscapes of Salamanca, New York. In May 2022, during the spring season, a male Northern Parula was spotted singing melodiously from a flowering crabapple tree. Its vibrant plumage and enchanting song added an extra touch of beauty to the surroundings. This small warbler species shares its habitat with other colorful birds like the Black-throated Blue Warbler and the Black-throated Green Warbler. The sight of these different species perched together creates a mesmerizing display of nature's diversity. Both male and female they are equally stunning. A female was observed gracefully perching amidst her natural habitat. These birds prefer wooded areas with dense vegetation where they can find shelter and build their nests. The breeding territory of the male Northern Parula is where it showcases its vocal talents most prominently. With great enthusiasm, it sings to attract potential mates while defending its territory from rivals. In Portugal too, one can encounter this remarkable bird species known as Setophaga americana or simply Northern Parula. It demonstrates how these beautiful creatures have managed to expand their range beyond North America.
