Okumura Toshinobu was a renowned creator and artist during the 18th century, known for his exceptional talent in capturing the essence of various theatrical performances. His works showcased the actors' incredible skills and brought characters to life on paper. In one of his creations, we see Ichikawa Monnosuke I as Kusunoki Masatsura and Arashi Wakano as Oyuki in the play from 1723. Toshinobu's attention to detail is evident as he beautifully portrays their expressions and costumes, immersing us into the world of theater. Another masterpiece by Toshinobu features Fujimura Handayu II as Nowake no Mae in "Tategami Teika Kazura" from 1719. The actor's gracefulness is captured flawlessly, highlighting Toshinobu's ability to convey movement through static art. One cannot overlook Nakamura Takesaburo as Shikishi Naishinno and Tsuruya Nanboku as Gengoro in another piece from 1719.
