Onoe Eizaburo I, also known as Onoe Kikugoro III, was a renowned actor in the world of Japanese Kabuki theater. His talent and versatility on stage were unmatched, captivating audiences with his powerful performances. In one of his most iconic roles, Onoe Kikugoro III portrayed Nagoya Sanza in the play "Sato no Haru Meibutsu Amigasa" in 1827. The exquisite portrayal by Utagawa Kunisada captured the essence of this character's complexity and depth. Another notable performance was alongside Ichikawa Danjuro VII as Sukeroku and Onoe Kikugoro III as the white sake bottle in a play from around 1823. Utagawa Kunisada beautifully depicted their chemistry on stage, showcasing their exceptional acting skills. In yet another masterpiece by Utagawa Kunisada from 1827, Onoe Kikugoro III played Nagoya Sanza once again while Iwai Kumesaburo II took on the role of a courtesan. The collaboration between Arashi Kichisaburo III as Aboshi Samojiro and Onoe Kikugoro II as Hamaji is another example of theatrical brilliance captured by Utagawa Kuniyoshi circa 1852. Their expressive faces conveyed emotions that resonated deeply with audiences. One cannot forget the unforgettable duo formed by Onoe Kikugoro III as Hayano Kanpei and Mimasu Gennosuke as Enya Hangan in 1822.
