"Pantos: A Timeless Theatrical Tradition" Step into the magical world of pantomimes, where fairy tales come to life and laughter fills the air. On 20th December 1974, at Birmingham Hippodrome, Aladdin took center stage in a spectacular production that left audiences spellbound. The photo-call captured the enchantment as actors donned their vibrant costumes and posed for the camera. But it wasn't just Aladdin who stole the show; Mother Goose Pantomime brought joy to all with its whimsical characters and heartwarming story. Singer Helen Shapiro found solace in her dressing room, surrounded by her dazzling outfits, while behind the scenes she embraced her role with passion. Alice in Wonderland transported theatergoers down the rabbit hole at Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford during an unforgettable photocall. Meanwhile, Alexandra Stevenson showcased her talents both on stage as a professional actress and offstage as an amateur painter on January 12th, 1965. The magic continued with Cinderella's timeless tale at Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham on December 20th, 1984. The photo-call captured the elegance of this beloved story through stunning visuals and captivating performances. From afar lands came Margot Tscheng and her acrobatic group from Peking, China. Their gravity-defying stunts mesmerized audiences worldwide with their incredible skills. Not to be forgotten is Stanley Baxter's iconic portrayal of a pantomime dame at Kings Theatre in Glasgow—a performance that left everyone rolling in laughter. Even celebrities couldn't resist joining these festive productions. In December 1973, they graced Granada East Ham's stage for Cinderella—an event that added even more sparkle to this cherished tradition. Since its inception back in 1858 when clowns first saw panto time from their unique perspective—filled with slapstick humor—the art form has evolved but never lost its charm.
