Percy Tait, a legendary motorcycle racer, left an indelible mark on the racing world with his exceptional skills and unwavering determination. From his early triumphs in the 1967 Production 500 TT aboard a Triumph to his later successes in various races, Percy's name became synonymous with speed and excellence. In 1971, he dominated the Formula 750 TT astride a powerful Triumph machine, showcasing his ability to conquer any challenge that came his way. The following year saw him competing alongside renowned riders Charlie Sanby (Suzuki) and John Williams (Yamaha) in the thrilling Open Classic TT race of 1975. Percy's Yamaha roared across the finish line, securing yet another victory for this remarkable racer. Not one to rest on his laurels, Percy continued pushing boundaries as he tackled the Formula 750 TT once again in 1974, this time riding a Suzuki. His skillful maneuvers and lightning-fast speeds left spectators awestruck as he crossed the finish line victorious. Throughout his career, Percy also participated in parade laps that allowed him to showcase different motorcycles. In a memorable moment during the Suzuki Parade Lap of 1990, he demonstrated both finesse and power aboard a Suzuki bike. The Classic TT held in 1976 witnessed Percy's brilliance once more as he fearlessly rode a Suzuki machine through challenging terrains. His expertise was evident as he maneuvered through twists and turns with precision and grace. However, it was not only modern races where Percy excelled; even back in1955 when Norton ruled supreme at events like Senior Ulster Grand Prix or Senior TT races - it was no surprise to see him leading from start to finish alongside fellow rider Wilf Herron on their Norton machines. Percy's versatility extended beyond brand loyalty too; switching between Yamaha or Beasley Velocette motorcycles showcased not only his adaptability but also highlighted his exceptional talent across different classes.
