"The Postman: Delivering Messages Through Time and Space" From the snowy landscapes of Bough Beech, Kent in 1962 to the mysterious encounter with UFOs in Namur, Belgium in 1955, postmen have been witnesses to extraordinary moments. Just like the brave Pony Express Riders captured in a black and white photo from c. 1860, these dedicated individuals have always gone above and beyond to ensure that messages reach their destinations. In 1890, Sir Rowland Hill's Penny Post Jubilee card marked a milestone in postal history. It celebrated the revolutionary concept of affordable postage for all. And it is this spirit that lives on as we see a postman delivering a letter to two excited children. Even during times of war, such as World War II, postmen continued their duty. Postmen are not bound by geography either; they navigate treacherous terrains like Mr Freathy who delivers mail near Dungeness' shingle beach or those who braved remote Hebrides islands during the 1940s/50s. Whether it be riding alongside donkeys or utilizing other means of transportation like early 1900s donkey deliveries or even partnering with loyal donkeys as shown by Royal Mail's postman - these unsung heroes adapt to any situation to fulfill their duties.
