From the Western Reef Heron hunting on mud at the edge of a mangrove swamp in Gambia to the Eastern Reef Heron standing in shallow water on a coral cay in Green Island, these birds are truly captivating. The dark morph adult Western Reef Heron is seen here, both hunting and walking on mud, showcasing its versatility and adaptability. In December, it gracefully hunts in water while in January, it confidently walks along the muddy edges of rivers.
