The RMS Queen Mary, a majestic ocean liner, was launched in 1934 by the Cunard White Star Line. The painting by William McDowell captures the grandeur of this remarkable vessel. In full color litho, another image showcases the beauty and elegance of the ship. A black and white photograph shows workers leaving after construction was temporarily suspended in December 1931. As it passed Cowes, Isle of Wight in August 1936, Kirk & Sons of Cowes captured an iconic moment of the Queen Mary's journey. Onboard, luxurious de-luxe state rooms awaited passengers during their voyage in 1942. An advertisement from Shipping Wonders of the World Part I highlights this magnificent liner as one of its featured wonders in 1935. The launching ceremony on September 26th, 1934 was a momentous occasion depicted by an artist in a stunning piece from 1936. Technical marvels were also part of her design - one such innovation being a many-bladed rotor for low-pressure turbines showcased in a photograph from 1937. This mighty Atlantic record breaker lived up to its name with impressive speed and power. In another captivating image from 1936, we witness the arrival at King George V Graving Dock. Its sheer size is emphasized by comparing it to a street or tower as described in an article titled "Long As A Street, Lofty As A Tower" published between 1930-34. The RMS Queen Mary remains an enduring symbol of luxury travel across oceans and continues to fascinate us with its rich history and timeless allure even today.
