The majestic rock temples of Abu Simbel in Egypt are a sight to behold. These ancient structures, carved into the cliffs, stand as a testament to the incredible architectural prowess of the Egyptians. Abu Simbel is home to two main temples - The Great Temple and the small temple known as the Temple of Hathor. The Great Temple, also called the Temple of Ramses II, is dedicated to this powerful pharaoh and showcases his grandeur through its colossal statues and intricate carvings. Not far from it lies the smaller but equally impressive Temple of Hathor. This temple holds special significance as it was dedicated to Nefertari, Ramses II's beloved wife. Its delicate artwork and graceful design make it a true gem among these rock marvels. Moving away from Egypt, we find ourselves in Ceylon where another set of rock temples awaits exploration. The Rock Temples at Dambulla and Polonnaruwa showcase an entirely different cultural heritage. These ruined cities provide a glimpse into Sri Lanka's rich history with their black-and-white photographs capturing their former glory. But let us not forget about Cairo and its iconic Nile River that has been immortalized in engravings throughout history. This bustling city serves as a gateway to countless wonders including those found within Abu Simbel's rocky embrace. Lastly, we travel further east to Pei-Tai-Ho where yet another Rock Temple stands tall against picturesque landscapes. A color lithograph brings out every detail of this magnificent structure nestled amidst nature's beauty.
