Saint Scholastica, the twin sister of Saint Benedict, is a revered figure in Christian history known for her piety and devotion to God. Born in Italy in the 6th century, she dedicated her life to prayer and contemplation. Scholastica founded a convent near Monte Cassino where she lived a life of humility and service to others. She was known for her compassion towards the poor and sick, often spending long hours caring for those in need. Legend has it that Scholastica had a close bond with her brother Benedict, with whom she shared a deep spiritual connection, and is said that they would meet once a year to discuss matters of faith and spend time together in prayer. One famous story tells of how Scholastica prayed fervently for an extension of their visit one evening when Benedict wanted to leave. In response, God sent a thunderstorm that prevented him from leaving, allowing them more time together before Scholastica passed away shortly after. Saint Scholastica's legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched with her kindness and devotion. She is remembered as a shining example of selflessness and love for all humanity.
